ChomChom Roller – Reusable Pet Hair Remover
We designed the ChomChom Roller to solve the frustration every pet owner knows—fur embedded in upholstery that lint rollers and vacuums can’t fully remove. Our reusable pet hair remover uses a patented dual-roller system with no sticky sheets, batteries, or power cords. Just roll it back and forth over any fabric surface, and embedded fur collects inside the built-in waste compartment.

The ChomChom Roller uses two counter-rotating nylon bristle rollers that work in tandem. When you push the handle forward, the front roller lifts fur from fabric fibers while the rear roller directs it into the waste chamber. Pull the handle back, and the motion reverses—each stroke captures fur regardless of direction.

Materials and build quality
We manufacture the roller body from injection-molded ABS plastic, the same material used in automotive dashboards and appliance housings. ABS resists cracking under repeated stress and maintains structural integrity across temperature changes, which matters if you store the roller in a hot car or cold garage.
The nylon bristle rollers are secured to stainless steel axles that spin on sealed ball bearings. This bearing system ensures smooth rotation even after thousands of strokes. The waste chamber holds approximately two cups of fur and opens via a spring-loaded latch on the bottom. We’ve tested the latch mechanism through 10,000 open-close cycles without failure. The roller’s compact dimensions—7.5 inches long, 3.5 inches wide, 2 inches tall—fit most car door pockets and cleaning supply organizers.

Best surfaces and fabrics for use
The ChomChom Roller works most effectively on medium-pile fabrics like microfiber, cotton upholstery, fleece, and synthetic car seat covers. Pet owners with velvet couches, linen bedding, and wool blankets report excellent results. The roller also handles low-pile carpets and area rugs, though it requires more strokes than on furniture.
For delicate fabrics—silk, satin, loose-knit sweaters—test the roller on an inconspicuous area first. The nylon bristles are gentle, but aggressive back-and-forth motion on fragile weaves can cause pilling. On leather and faux leather, the roller removes surface fur but won’t extract hair lodged in seams or perforations. For those surfaces, we recommend using the roller in combination with a soft brush to work fur loose before rolling.

Common questions about the ChomChom Roller
The ChomChom Roller uses counter-rotating nylon bristle rollers instead of sticky sheets. When you push or pull the handle, the bristles lift fur from fabric fibers and direct it into the internal waste chamber. The bidirectional motion means every stroke captures hair, and the waste compartment holds the fur until you empty it. No adhesive means no loss of stickiness over time and no ongoing costs for refills.
The roller works best on medium-pile fabrics like microfiber, cotton upholstery, fleece, synthetic car seat covers, and low-pile carpets. It’s safe for most fabrics including velvet, linen, and wool. For delicate materials like silk, satin, or loose-knit sweaters, test on a hidden area first since aggressive rolling can cause pilling. On leather and faux leather, it removes surface fur but won’t extract hair from seams or perforations.
For homes with one or two pets, you’ll typically empty the chamber after 2-3 full furniture cleaning sessions. Homes with multiple shedding dogs or cats during spring and fall blowouts may need to empty it mid-session. The translucent chamber lets you see when it’s full. Emptying takes about five seconds—just open the bottom latch, tap the fur into a trash can, and close the latch.
Under normal use—2-3 cleaning sessions per week—the bristles last 12-18 months before showing wear. Signs that replacement is needed include bristles that stay bent instead of springing back, uneven fur pickup, or visible fraying on the bristle tips. We sell replacement roller sets that include both front and rear rollers with pre-installed bearings. Installation takes less than a minute with no tools required.
Yes, the roller handles thick double-coat fur from breeds like huskies, malamutes, and German shepherds. The nylon bristles are stiff enough to penetrate dense undercoat shedding but flexible enough not to damage fabric. For heavy shedding seasons, you may need to empty the waste chamber more frequently and clean tangled fur from the roller axles after each use. Many customers with arctic breeds report it’s the only tool that effectively removes their dogs’ undercoat from furniture.
You can rinse the waste chamber with water, but avoid submerging the roller mechanism or getting water inside the bearing housings. After emptying collected fur, wipe the chamber interior with a damp cloth if needed. For the bristle rollers, use the included cleaning brush to remove tangled fur rather than rinsing. If bristles accumulate oils from fabric conditioners or pet grooming products, wipe them with a slightly damp cloth and let them air dry completely before use.
Battery-powered vacuums offer suction but require charging, regular filter cleaning, and eventual battery replacement. They’re heavier and noisier than the ChomChom Roller. Our manual roller weighs 8 ounces, operates silently, and has no batteries to maintain. For embedded fur in upholstery, the physical contact of bristles often outperforms suction alone. Many customers use both—the ChomChom for furniture and bedding, a vacuum for floors and hard-to-reach areas.
